On Monday the 9th of November, Christie’s New York saw the sale of Modigliani’s 'Nu Coucheé', 1917-18, which realised a rather impressive $170.4 million, becoming the second highest price paid for an artwork at auction. The work was part of Christie’s 'The Artist’s Muse: A Curated Evening Sale', which joined Modigliani amongst the likes of Courbet, Giacometti and De Kooning - a rather eclectic aesthetic of styles, linked semantically in their depiction of the muse.
