Carmen

Andipa Gallery announces a private VIP Clients Reception to experience the full collection of Picasso’s ‘Carmen Series', consisting of thirty-two engravings each dated 1949.

‘Carmen’ is a novella written by Prosper Mérimée, a famous French historian and story writer. It was for this novella, (made popular through Georges Biszet’s opera, 1875) that Picasso produced a selection of illustrations titled ‘Carmen’, produced as a collection of engravings.

This collection was created in Paris in 1949 by Picasso and consists of several studies of facial features of men, women and heads of bulls.

Each work (size 33 x 26 cm) of this limited edition is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a copy of the original justification sheet signed in pencil by Picasso. Every engraving is mounted and presented in a hand crafted frame.

The Andipa team will be at hand to offer advice about collecting fine prints, and look forward to welcoming you to the gallery the on 27th March, between 6pm and 9pm, where, with a glass of champagne in hand, you can enjoy these wonderful works of art.
