BANKSY | Banksy in Rome BOOMS

13 Jun 2016

The opening of ‘War, Capitalism & Liberty | Banksy From Private Collections’ museum exhibition on 28 May in Rome, Italy, was a huge success, kicking off one of the hottest shows of the summer.

Over 15,000 tickets have been sold within just two weeks, with the majority (around 60%) of the visitors coming from outside Italy. As a result of the good response, the visiting hours and days have been extended, allowing for a projected 100,000 visitors over the course of the next three months.

‘War, Capitalism & Liberty’ is a non-commercial exhibition featuring an extensive collection of Banksy’s work from original paintings, limited edition prints, sculptures and rare never-seen-before objects. It is the most comprehensive review to date of the artist known as Banksy, one of the most controversial, debated and acclaimed figures of our times. His anonymity caught the attention of international audiences since the late nineties and his refusal to conform explains the difficulty to frame and define the artist’s career.

Prof. Avv. Emmanuele F.M. Emanuele, President of Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Italia e Mediterraneo, and curator of the exhibition - solidifies the importance and potential of a non-profit institution by explaining that it “gives a concrete answer to the needs of the community (thus) enhancing the greatest asset of our country, that is the culture".

The exhibition will be showing until 04 September, 2016. For more information and to buy tickets visit the official exhibition website at: www.warcapitalismandliberty.org or contact the gallery.
