Slinkachu, who has gained international recognition for his portrayal of ironic situations through human figurines, approaches the miniature installation medium in a fashion similar to the Chapman Brother’s, yet in a lighter format.
‘Hanging on’ sees the artist engage in a play on words which tackles issues such as nightlife, prostitution and city life. The lap-dancing figure of a woman, hanging from a streetlight pole recalls the duality of urban spaces, which often transform into decadent playgrounds at nighttime.
The artist leaves the choice of what to see in his works to the viewer. Concentrating on the creation of thought-inspiring imagery, Slinkachu offers viewers the opportunity of delving into his representations in an introspective way.
